Tim La Rocco Reads from His Novel, Midnight in Cambodia

2nd November 2017 @ 11:00 pm - 3rd November 2017 @ 12:00 am

Don’t miss Tim La Rocco in a late night session reading from his novel Midnight in Cambodia

Tim LaRocco’s first fiction novel, Midnight in Cambodia, serves as a discourse for several contemporary themes that are a part of modern Cambodia. It explores the volatile relationship between Cambodians and Vietnamese, the role of China in Cambodia’s historical past and present, and also the experiences of living in Phnom Penh as an expatriate. Taking place over the course of a single day, the novel takes the reader on a journey through modern Cambodia: its markets and food, the countryside, and the litany of social and political problems that can be traced to a past as dark and tragic as anywhere in the world. LaRocco’s first book, Hegemony 101: Great Power Behavior in the Regional Domain, was published in 2013 while he worked as a Southeast Asia-based freelance journalist. He briefly returned to his home in Long Island, New York where he taught courses in Political Science at St. Joseph’s College. He is currently the Head of the Humanities Department at East West International School in Phnom Penh, where he also teaches History and Global Studies.
