Dirty City is a three-piece musical exploration featuring Steve Northcott (vox/guitars, filmmaker and art teacher), Brad Philen (djembe and author) and Travis Tebo (sax and Professor of Funk) currently based out of Beijing, China. Steve’s artistic endeavors have taken him around the world via his production of online web series focusing on travel and music, On The Beat and Path (onthebeatandpath.com). His film shot in Kampot, Cambodia, Songs From the Mekong, followed five musicians on their creative journey as they set to write, compose and record five original songs in five days. Along with his band, BENCHMARX, Steve was the 2010 recipient of Malaysia’s Voize music award for Most Exhilarating Live Act. Brad has taught high school English since 2002 in Namibia, New York City, Senegal, and is now working in Beijing, China. He’s the author of the novel AUTUMN FALLS and the short story collection EVERYTHING IS INSHA’ALLAH. Bradford is currently rocking with Dirty City. Travis is a science teacher at the International School of Beijing, is an in-demand sax for hire, and currently lends his funk to Beijing’s Dirty City.
